The Studio
Primavera is a working pottery studio and teaching space in the heart of Shoreditch, founded in 2019 by ceramicist Elena Voss. The studio was built on the belief that making something with your hands — slowly, imperfectly, presently — is one of the most meaningful things a person can do.
Our clay comes from a family-run quarry in Portugal. Our glazes are hand-mixed from mineral pigments that shift under high fire. Every piece that leaves this studio carries the mark of its maker — the particular pressure of a thumb, the ghost of a fingerprint in the lip of a bowl.
We offer small group workshops, open studio sessions, and private tuition. All skill levels are welcome. No experience is required — only attention, and patience.
Begin with centring and graduate to your first vessel. A grounding three-hour session that teaches the foundational technique of wheel throwing, from opening to pulling walls.
Unstructured studio time for returning students. Access the wheels, tools, and kiln under Elena's quiet supervision. Bring a project, or let the clay decide what it wants to become.
Learn the chemistry of colour. This session covers mixing, layering, and applying mineral glazes, then loading the kiln. Students retrieve their finished pieces the following week.
